Ink Review 306 Colorverse 3 Saturn V — Mountain of Ink

Colorverse String from light to dark. Colorverse String is a nice writing ink, as well. It's juicy and wet, but well-controlled, and very smooth on the page. The edging keeps it nicely defined, and there's no feather or bleed. Visually, it has more character on coated papers, but writes consistently well on uncoated papers, too.

Chromatography reveals several colors in Rainy Day: yellow, peach, pink, lavender, and light blue. As I said, the shading properties of Rainy Day really come out in wider nibs. I used my ruling pen on Midori Cotton paper and achieved some terrific contrast and pooling. You can purchase Colorverse Rainy Day in a 30ml bottle for $13.75 from JetPens.

Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening Ink Review Covid19 Memorial

ColorVerse does a great job with shimmer inks - the particles are smaller than several other manufacturers' shimmer inks, making it less likely to clog in your nib feed. The only other glistening ink in this series is (alpha) SCORPII. The color is appropriate for this star - a red supergiant that is said to have a mass 12 times that of our own sun.

The inks cost $36 per two-pack of bottles - one 65ml bottle of Schrodinger and one 15ml bottle of Cat - for a total of 80ml of ink. While the cash outlay "per ink" isn't insignificant, given the volume you get in a box the price doesn't strike me as unreasonable (though of course opinions will vary on this).

Ink Review Colorverse Supernova & Quasar The WellAppointed Desk

During our review, Colorverse Office Series Black fountain pen ink had a dry time of approximately 4-5 seconds with medium to high saturation. This dry tie is very fast dry time (much quicker than the Colorverse Office Blue ink we reviewed last). With this extremely fast dry time, we think Colorverse Office Black ink is perfect for everyday use.

Colorverse Special Edition Stars and Stripes Glistening Ink Review

Colorverse Chesapeake Bay's crisp, cool and warm colors. Chesapeake Bay is a nice writing ink (Colorverse inks are consistent in that way). There's some shading, a strong, clean stroke profile, and lots of movement in coloration. It's a fairly wet ink and flows comfortably. Drying was average at 15-20 seconds on Rhodia dot pad.

Ink Review Colorverse Supernova & Quasar The WellAppointed Desk

This is a very nice ink. The shading takes it beyond the ordinary, and visually it's a joy. As a writing ink, it's exceptional, as well. It comes in their 30 ml bottles, and it's very affordably priced (US$12 at many popular online retailers). Coffee Break would make a very nice go-to brown in any collection.
